EXCHANGE WITH AIESEC

So all this time we've been blogging about EXCHANGE and sharing people's experiences. Am sure most readers have an idea what exchange is. but oh well, just as the name suggest EXCHANGE involves change in environment. AIESEC EXCHANGE is an intense learning experience offered to young leaders to build on their global mindset. Every year AIESEC world provides over 5,500 members the challenging opportunity to live and work in a foreign country in areas of management, information technology, education, and development. 

AIESEC EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

EXCHANGE with AIESEC is divided into two broad categories:  (GCDP AND GIP)
GCDP- Global community development program is an internship in which the exchange participant works in a project or in an NGO, community organization of in a school. The exchange participant in this case is able to understand the different culture and in the working process indulge in personal development  and get an opportunity to change the society.

 Joining the Global Community Development Program abroad as an international intern can be the most intense learning experience that AIESEC offers to university students and recent graduates. Imagine how life-changing it can be after 2 or 3 months working in a foreign country, on various social projects, with other interns from different countries, living as an independent person away from your parents and friends back home, and exploring the place that is alien from what you are always used to! Plus, imagine how impressive and outstanding your CV can be to the eyes of your potential employees with an international internship experience on it!

Additional information about GCDP 
  • Duration of work is between 6-8 weeks,
  •  A service charge of 5000 Kshs is a requirement.
  • In some cases food and accommodation is provided..
  • Travel costs and visa application  costs are self sponsored
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • a university student or a recent graduate,
  • 30 years old or younger,
  • able to communicate well in English,
  • responsive and good at communication,
  • proactive and ready to take on challenge
 Exchange process

  • Selection and Application – after joining and understanding AIESEC you can enter a review process to assess your experiences and motivation for doing an AIESEC exchange. A review board that will interview you to assess your suitability to become an exchange participant in several areas that include: psychological balance, global mindset, self awareness and personality.
  • Preparation – AIESEC provides resources, trainings and support to prepare you to live and work in another country. This includes visa processing.
    • Logistical preparation. Ensuring that you are physically and legally prepared to work in another country.
    • Community Involvement. To help you gain an understanding of issues facing the world and your own community.
    • Direct Country preparation. Preparation on the country you will be going to and also how to cope with the pressures of living in a foreign culture.
    • AIESEC preparation. Providing you with knowledge about the exchange program and the roles of various entities. 
      In preparing you we will carry out a cultural preparation seminar, in which we will deal with culture shock issues.
  • Matching - You will be trained and given access to use our on-line database of jobs. The more flexible you are the better.
  • Integration – AIESEC members in your host chapter provide support and assistance in getting setup while providing opportunities for cultural and social activities.this is where the fun begins. you meet new people, try out new things, work in a new environment, just excitement! excitement! excitement!




 
  • Re-Integration – AIESEC supports you in making the readjustment process when you return home
